Asha Pai’s Bat Mitzvah

Hi, my name is Asha Pai. I’m in seventh grade and I’ve been going to Brandeis SF since Kindergarten. A bit more about me — I live with my mom (Aliza), stepdad (Jeb), and sisters (Izzy, Lucy and Willa). We recently got a dog named Shoshana (Shoshi for short!). I live in the Sunnyside neighborhood and love Asian food. I like to go on hikes on the weekend and play tennis at Sunnyside Park.

It was really fun to study Torah leading up to my Bat Mitzvah, though it was a little stressful too. Working towards my Bat Mitzvah has taught me to work towards big challenges. I’m reading from Parshat Yitro, which features the Jews receiving the ten commandments from Har Sinah! In my drash, we’re going to be taking a closer look at those commandments. I hope to see you all from the CBS community there!

I’d like to thank Rabbi Russell and my tutor Marilyn Heiss for helping me learn and study in preparation for my Bat Mitzvah. I’d also like to thank the Bnei Mitzvah school and class for all your support through out the journey. Special shout out to my parents for being my biggest supporters.
