Max Molofsky’s Bar Mitzvah

Hello. I am Max Molofsky, and I attend The Brandeis School of San Francisco. Because I am in 7th grade, I have many hobbies and extracurriculars. I like to play soccer with my team in SF United, play chess, and hang out with my family and friends.

I am looking forward to my Bar Mitzvah on February 8th, 2025. I wanted to thank my  Bar Mitzvah tutor (Rabbi Fernanda) for helping me learn my Torah, Haftorah, Blessings, and more. I would also like to thank Rabbi Russell For helping me write my drash and providing the resources needed to make it great. I also want to thank my family for doing some of the honors.

My Torah Portion is called Beshallach, though it is often called Shabbat Shirah. In this portion, the Israelites cross the Red Sea with the Pharaoh chasing them. They then start singing and dancing. After this, they go to several camps, where the Israelites frequently complain about food and water to God. In the final camp, they reach after 40 years of wandering the desert. The Amalek attack the Israelites. The Amalek are defeated, and God vows to wipe out their memory.
