Judah Switzky’s Bar Mitzvah
Judah Switzky will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday November 16, 2024. He will read from Parshat Vayera and his drash will discuss some insights about kindness and helping others. Following the service, we’ll celebrate together with a kiddush lunch.
Judah is an 8th grader at Presidio Middle School and lives in the Richmond district. He and his family have been members of Beth Sholom since 2020, when he first dipped his toes into learning Hebrew online. Since starting the B’nai Mitzvah program in 6th grade, Judah has grown to enjoy his time at Beth Sholom, especially the great people and great food!
Judah has become an avid skateboarder this past year, independently making his way around the city by bus and foot to explore all the cool spots to skate. He plays stand-up and electric bass (including as the bassist for the CBS Mishpachah Band this past high holidays) and enjoys playing Metallica on his electric guitar. Judah also loves to draw and create art of many types.
He would like to thank Randy Weiss for his joyful and encouraging Bar Mitzvah tutoring, Marilyn Heiss for support, and Rabbi Russell for her guidance. Judah would especially like to thank Adam Lowy, Ben Lieberman, Marly Mizrahi, Jonathan Bayer and the whole Beth Sholom education and youth crew for making the B’nai Mitzvah program a great experience and fun place to be.
Judah is grateful to his parents Josh and Andrea, and his sister Tova, for their love, support and frequent silliness.
