Ilan Miller's Bar Mitzvah
My name is Ilan Miller and I just started the 7th grade at Marin Primary & Middle School. For the last three years, I went to North Bridge Academy in Mill Valley, which is a school for dylexic learners like me. I like to play basketball with my friends, I like to cook, and I like to be with my parents and my older brothers Aaron and Joshua. I have two geckos, Sticky and Lavender.
My Bar Mitzvah is September 3, 2022. My parsha is Shoftim, from the book of Deuteronomy. Shoftim talks about judges, judgment and justice. The most famous line from my parsha is, “Tzedek, tzedek, tirdof - justice, justice shall you pursue.” I will be talking about it in my drash and about justice in general. I hope you will come!
I want to thank my amazing Bar Mitzvah tutor, Marilyn Heiss. She has helped me so much with my Haftorah. I couldn’t do it without her. I also want to thank my former teacher, Rabbi Elisheva. I started my Bar Mitzvah preparation with her via Zoom over two years ago. She taught me my Torah portion. I would like to thank Rabbi Amanda Russell, our Rabbi, for helping me so much with my drash and giving me so many good pointers when I speak. I also want to thank my parents and my older brothers, Aaron and Joshua, for always supporting me.
