Volunteer and Donation Opportunities with Chesed v’Tzedek

Socialize and Support our Democracy

  • Tuesday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Sholom

  • Sunday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Congregation Sha’ar Zahav

Our goal is to encourage marginalized people to return to the voting polls.  Postcards are not partisan; provide election info; and registrar info to check on voter status. Please RSVP to chesed@bethsholomsf.org so we can have a packet ready for you — see you there!

JFCS Rosh Hashanah Gift Bag Packing

Tuesday, September 17th at 4:30 p.m.

Join us for a heartfelt mitzvah as we gear up for the Jewish High Holy Days! We will come together at JFCS' San Francisco office (2150 Post St. San Francisco, CA 94115) to pack holiday gift bags for over 400 Jewish people in need. It's a wonderful chance for parents, kids, families and all community members to connect and share in an act of giving  — we can't wait to see you there. Please RSVP here.

Make a Back-to-School Supplies Kit

Weekdays during Elul: September 4-27, 2024

Every day, people fleeing conflict or persecution arrive in the Bay Area. Many come with next to nothing, but their hope and determination. Create a back-to-school kit for children who have sought safe refuge in the Bay Area by bringing supplies to donate to Jewish Family and Children’s Services during Elul.

Feel free to include one or more items or create a complete backpack with one of each item on the list! Gift cards to Target are also welcome in addition to or instead of supplies.

  • Backpack

  • 18-month 2024-25 monthly planner notebook

  • Spiral bound lined paper notebook

  • Highlighter pens

  • Zippered pencil pouch

  • Insulated soft sided lunchbox

  • Ball point pens

  • Gift card
