Balance of Tradition and Innovation (HALACHA V’ SHINUI)

As a Conservative synagogue, we follow in a long line of innovators who treasured Jewish tradition, yet also celebrated the dynamic, ever-evolving nature of Judaism and Jewish peoplehood. We strive to balance the steadfastness of tradition with the evolving needs of modern life, and believe this creative tension contributes to the vibrancy of our community.

Community (KEHILLAH)

Community is at the center of Jewish life…and of everything we do at CBS. We believe in the transformative power of fellowship — its ability to inspire and uplift — so we work hard to foster communal connections. We also believe that a community must be diverse in order to flourish; our congregation is inclusive and supportive, and accepts a wide range of beliefs and Jewish practice. The diversity of the CBS community reflects the heterogeneity of klal Yisrael (all of the Jewish community).

Egalitarianism and Equality (SHIVYON)

We are welcoming and accessible to all members of our community. We encourage active and full participation in our services and programs, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, or age.

Teaching and Learning (TORAH)

CBS is committed to making the richness of Jewish thought relevant to modern life. Our leaders are well-versed in Torah, and help members of our community meaningfully engage the Jewish canon through both traditional and innovative lenses. We provide teaching for every age group.
